Embracing the Magic: A Glimpse into Opening Day at Camp Mountain Chai

Dear Camp Mountain Chai parents,

As parents, you know better than anyone how the opening day sets the tone for the entire camp experience. We were thrilled to see familiar faces return and equally delighted to welcome new campers into our close-knit community. The Camp Mountain Chai family grew a little larger, and we couldn’t be happier. The warmth and camaraderie that unfolded throughout the day affirmed what we already knew – this summer is bound to be extraordinary.

Our opening campfire evening program last night was nothing short of magical. Our wonderful 2023 Cornerstone Fellows and Liaison (Hillary, Tzippy, Maya, Brandon and Sophia) did a fantastic job MC-ing and hosting the program. During the opening campfire, our campers had a chance to meet the full-time team (R-Shy, Camp Director, B.Cap, Assistant Director and David, Operations Director). They also got introduced to our Leadership team, Assistant Unit Leaders (AULs) and our fantastic group of specialists through various skits and songs. As the sun eventually dipped below the horizon and the night sky above twinkled with stars, we concluded the evening with additional CMC traditions like singing the CMC song and Siyum (Shema and Hashkiveinu) in the Teatron for the very first time.

Opening day and the evening campfire program provided us with a glimpse into the transformative power of the Camp Mountain Chai experience. The adventure has just begun, and we eagerly await the countless memories yet to be made. Over the next two weeks, our campers will embark on a transformative journey of a lifetime by exploring the beautiful outdoors, experiencing skill-based and fun specialty areas and by creating lifelong friendships.

As we reflect on the remarkable opening day and the heartwarming campfire evening program, we extend our gratitude to each and every one of you for entrusting us with your children. The spirit of Camp Mountain Chai is alive and thriving, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of this vibrant community.

After spending the past 25+ years at Jewish overnight camp (14 years at CMC), I could not be more excited for what this fantastic session holds.Together, let’s embrace the magic of summer, celebrate the adventures that await, and cherish the bonds that will be forged among our campers. We are confident that this will be a summer to remember – one filled with laughter, personal growth, and lifelong memories.

With love and gratitude,

B.Cap
