Har Team Captains Oli and Lielle
Lmat: How did you feel when you first found out you were a captain?
Lielle: One of the most exciting moments to happen to me in the last year. When we had the CMC games the first session I gave my heart out and I was so happy they gave me the opportunity to lead the Har Team.
Ollie: I was over the moon. I was so excited. I know I have the skill set to be a great leader and captain.
Lmat: How did they reveal it to you!?
Lielle: They scared me by saying I am in trouble and that I need to go to the office. I then saw more people. I realized I didn’t do anything wrong, so I calmed down. I went into R-Shy’s office and they screamed we are Captains and we got to celebrate with a glass filled with our color team.
Ollie: Well I was added to a group chat with a lot of senior leadership in it, I was so scared I was about to get fired. They told me to come to the office and then surprised me with saying I was going to be a captain.
Lmat: What’s’ something you are most looking forward to being a Har team captain?
Lielle: I’m looking forward to making this team a family and to see all the kids participate. I think at the end of the day all about the ruach and energy you bring into the game. I am so excited to see and hear our team be the loudest and help lead them with pride.
Ollie: I think just spreading joy and happiness to all the kids on my team. Celebrating victories, helping people when they are down, and helping them grow as people through this game and just giving these kids the best experience.
Lmat: Since this is your first summer doing Maccabiah, what activity are you most looking forward to?
Lielle: I am looking forward to the last basketball game that we have Monday night. Our closing competition and see all the creative competitions during half time. Basketball has been a part of my life for the last 10 years and I can’t wait to cheer on my team.
Ollie: I think it was the CMC Relay, there are just so many activities and so many things I could never think of, they are just so creative. No matter the age or ability everyone had such a great time.
Chai Team Captains James and Carla
Lmat: How did you feel when they told you that you would be the Chai Team Captains?
James: I was so excited I remember thinking I was in trouble when they told me they needed to chat with me. The office was all decorated in red and blue and Hilary and Jillian were there. It was really cool and I was just so excited and I have a great co captain Carla so I’m so excited.
Carla: I was so happy!!! I loved helping at the CMC Games first session and just being with the kids and cheering. I was just so excited to get this opportunity to be a captain.
Lmat: What are you most excited about being a CHAI Team Captain?
James: I’m most excited about all the ruach from the kids and planning the activities on who goes where and helping the kids sign up for things they are passionate for.
Carla: Just cheering them on and seeing them try and succeed during the competition and watching them have fun.
Lmat: Since this is your first summer doing Maccabiah, what activity are you most looking forward to?
James: I really am excited for the fort building, since I’m on Teva Specialist I’m just so excited to see what the kids create with nature!!
Carla: I am most looking forward to the basketball game because it is a combo of the two days and the kids are just so excited for it which makes me so excited since I do not know what to expect.
